Humility best defense against rightful blame.” – Charlie Chan
My late dad. As the years pass I appreciate him more and more.
Developing viable skating skills.
I grew up a fan of old school Roller Derby. As a kid I mainly followed the L.A. T-Birds, but I also enjoyed the San Francisco Bay Area Bombers. As the old derby faded and eventually disappeared, I always had the hope for some sort of revival. Around 2005, I became aware of the resurgence and rebirth of Roller Derby in the form which we are familiar today. In 2006, I attended a S.D. Derby Dolls flat track bout wanting to see more, but one of those unavoidable transitions in life put that on delay. In 2010 I began attending bouts again. Finding that I could become a part of Derby as a referee, I took the plunge and I have not looked back. To state it mildly, I love Derby, and I love working with all of my fellow refs and the family of dedicated skaters who are our league.
