San Diego Derby United is a roller derby organization that seeks to unify derby skaters, leagues, rule sets, and skating surfaces under one mission.
With a new permanent home that prominently features both banked and flat regulation roller derby tracks, we are proud to announce a new era of “United” roller derby in San Diego. The two-acre facility in the Encanto neighborhood of San Diego, California is the first of its kind. Built from a dirt lot on the side of the freeway, this ground up roller derby haven is unlike anything the modern sport has ever seen. San Diego Derby United is proud to be America’s Finest Roller Derby.
In 2005, Bonnie D. Stoir founded the program, then named the San Diego Derby Dolls, in a Linda Vista roller rink. The early years of the program were spent learning the game and fundraising for the program’s first banked track. Now, nearly 14 years later, the league has a new name and a new focus, unifying roller derby skaters, and programs, throughout the area.
Derby United is committed to the creation of an empowering, athletic, environment while enriching the lives of our members and community through the sport of roller derby.
San Diego Derby United envisions a world where communities focus on their members’ physical, social, and emotional development in order to be better equipped to successfully navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence.
